Getting to know me and my mission

So I have blogged but about 6 or 7 years ago as an assignment as an undergrad. And from what I remember, the way this works (or at least the way mine will) is I will basically be journaling about my journeys, days, and moods :) wow that should be dynamic! Well let's get down to it.....

Exactly two weeks ago, I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl, my second child. Before I had my son I had a horrible body image issue even though I worked out religiously. I also partied pretty hard on a daily basis which didn't help. After I had him, he and my husband became my focus and I completely let myself go.  In the midst of that I was also finishing up my Master's at SMU. Last January I decided to get my act together and lose weight. My biggest mistake was I was wanting to "get skinny".  I discovered the Atkins diet, read the books, and decided I was going about it all wrong.  I needed to get healthy and the "skinny" would follow. I got down to about half my goal and then got pregnant with my latest little angel :) During my pregnancy I tried to workout but towards the end of my second trimester I pulled a ligament and my Dr told me to stop exercising.  Where I work, I walk up and down 3 flights of stairs multiple times a day so he said that covered the walking i needed to do. Then the last 6 weeks he put me on bed rest....well with a new house, a husband on call 24/7 and a 3 year that didn't happen either :)

Now here I am two weeks after my daughter's birth, I have decided I have not yet accomplished enough.  I have danced all my life and taught Zumba (which I LOVE!!!) and have always hated running! Well to get that feeling of accomplishment I am going to start preparing myself to train for a marathon while I am also going back to school yet again for a second Master's degree and having a newborn in the house! I strongly believe that running and dancing could replace my old vices, help lose this pesky baby weight, and finally be fit with a HEALTHY body image. Having lived with an eating disorder for a good part of my life and now having a daughter, it is one of my ultimate goals to raise both my children to live healthy lifestyles and have a positive body image.

That is basically my ramblings about what these blogs will be about and some background on me.  I titled this because those will be questions I will constantly be asking myself to help keep me motivated and thinking am I living to learn more or am I just learning to truly live life..........
